On the surface, it appears to be a record Black Friday in terms of sales. But, if you dig into the data, it appears that -- adjusted for inflation -- things weren't nearly as good.

In fact, when adjusted for inflation, in-store sales were actually down almost 1% from last year.

Commerce only works because people want and value different things.

Next time you're negotiating, remember that the other party likely wants something very different than what you want.

Negotiations are successful when you figure out what it is the other side really wants and values.

Don't get too excited about another Fed rate cut in December.

Powell is working hard to reset expectations now that new inflation and retail sales data seems to support the fact that current inflation and economic activity levels are sticky.

I think we're likely to see a pause heading into 2025.
