Success. A few parts deliver tomorrow to finish the drain lines properly. Water heater $2300. Parts about $300. Install helper $500. (These things are HEAVY! My back is paying a price.) Oh, and it has WiFi! I can monitor performance, leaks, temp, energy usage, change modes, set schedules and more!
New water heater installed. Plumbing lines, expansion tank, and so on.

Ah, this was the one. There were others though.
The Peleus affair: In a notorious 1944 incident, the commander of U-852, Heinz-Wilhelm Eck, ordered his crew to machine-gun the survivors of the sunken Greek ship Peleus in the South Atlantic. Eck defended his actions as necessary to eliminate debris that might reveal the U-boat's location to Allied aircraft. However, three sailors survived and testified against him after the war.
