I thought the offensive line was too weak to stop the Pats making a serious challenge, but it seems to have been addressed?

A Very Civil Whist
Yes it's a good one. Very difficult though, which is probably accurate.

Yeah maybe. But it's static and grindy. Not that easy to model in a way that would be 'enjoyable' as a game (though I could be lacking imagination here). I also think Russia-NATO ultimately has more commercial appeal.

A concern among who? BCB is agnostic on how you fight; that's up to you. It tries to account for Russian experience by giving Russia quite a significant advantage in drones and EW. Maybe it's not enough🤷♂️, but it's easier for players to tweak/house rule if they are concerned about that.

Thanks for sharing, but don't worry, I've read it twice already. Today I'm going to run a test to try to replicate the Ukrainian approach (phases 4 - 6) using the Battlegroup Clash system. I'll post a blog with my findings.

Now just read it. I agree it's an excellent paper.

Vedette ran a backward looking wargame of the Surovikin Line attack. By working off the basis that Ukraine couldn't conduct combined arms attacks, it demonstrated it would fail. As with all models wargames are only as good as their assumptions. Maybe NATO planners in 2023 had the wrong ones.

I'm very interested to hear about Echo Patrol. It looks cool but there's no rulebook or playthru video, so it's hard to actually tell. Glad you met Uwe at SoD, a very nice guy, and the new game does indeed look gorgeous.

Not sure Frank is following but it would be interesting to know why he doesn't also propose reducing the number of French Preventive debate interjects to one, to address the issue highlighted in his conclusion?
I like this proposal but I definitely feel France will be too strong without this tweak.

It's in the new PHALANX edition, it's a variant of the StukaJoe CDG solo system.
