novel writer, bird person, beach person, socal resident by default, living the dream...what was that dream again?
I passed our small polling place here in Newport Beach at 5:30 this evening, holy cow, a traffic jam to get in and SO many people lined up, you'd think it must have been for a rock concert or something. Crazy, since we can vote by mail, but whatever, on top of No Kings, it was thrilling to see.

Why does Corey Lewandowski have any say in this godawful business, his un-vetted temp job was up long ago. I'm not a fan at all in any way of Kristi Noem, but SHE'S the (deplorable but also FEMALE) official department head and she's letting her unofficial "guy friend" make the decisions?

The last two sentences of the WaPo editorial: "The United States is protected by the most lethal and vigilant force ever assembled, no matter what it's called. THE NEW NAME COULD PROMPT MORE FOCUSED DEBATE ABOUT HOW TO USE IT." (Emphasis mine.) An end-run around Bezos? Think about it.

Discussing your previous post re: latchkey kids turned helicopter parents, my daughter defended her 24/7 surveillance of her kids with "those were innocent days, everything is scary now." This is beyond-heartbreaking proof. More needed? The suicide hotline # on the back of the new high school IDs.

Curious about this post, I asked the 12 yr old in my life about it. First, shock that an "older" person would ever know this term, and then a lengthy and hilarious conversation attempting to explain it. Thanks for a new insight and some much needed laughter.
