Sounds like you’ve designed a more thoughtful version of Alpha Centauri’s blind research setting which I enjoy a lot.

Batter hits ball ball, if it doesn’t go over the fence it (ideally) provides time for batter to get as close to home plate as possible. The other team is exclusively playing defense until they create a turnover and sides flip.

Seems like baseball and such have two balls: the ball and the batter; and two goals: over the fence (for the ball ball) and reaching home plate (for the batter).
