Maybe it’s because I’m a younger sibling, but if I spent decades trying to beat someone to be a world champ and then after making an amazing comeback to tie it they suggested we quit and share it I would have told them to fuck off.

If I could go back and tell my third-grade self one thing it would be this: quit trying so hard at writing in cursive and feeling so bad about it- it literally won’t even be a thing in the future.

I’m in my annual “try to learn Go” phase. I usually last a week before I give up in despair. Seems like that’s where I’m headed again. Went through this about 20 times before chess finally took.

For the first time I was in a situation where I was playing chess with someone at a party and realized most of my openings are kind of embarrassing to play against an actual person you can see. Fortunately he played the one thing I have a grown-up response for.

They just listed all the people performing at the Macys parade and I had heard of like 10 out of 30 of them. And that includes Santa. I'm so old.
