This week we’ve been watching a Northern Flicker (type of woodpecker) family in the woods across from our house. Hungry babies are noisy, no matter what the species -and the same goes for the truth that a mother’s work is never done. Hoping to see them fledge soon!

John Lewis was a major Civil Rights leader. He coined the phrase, "Good Trouble," and was one of the original 13 Freedom Riders. He led a march in Selma, AL and from Selma to Montgomery, AL. He served in congress from 1987 - 2020 and lPresidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. #tellblackhistorystories

Bessie Coleman was the first Black and Native American woman pilot. Returning from World War I her brother John told her that women in France were allowed to be pilots. No American flight school would take her, so Bessie learned French and moved to France to take flight lessons there. #blackstories
