"But that contrast is exactly what player development is built for. The goal isn’t just to train physical skills; it’s to build players with enough game understanding, anticipation, and adaptability to think for themselves when the moment comes."

How players attack pitches has an effect on the outcome of different swings in different swing locations. Two examples here of how this plays out across the zone.

For example here is Arozerena. Much Flatter than you would expect basically across the zone.

Vs. Judge who is significantly more vertical across the zone than you would expect him to be.

How players attack pitches in different ways has a decent change in which areas they can handle.

The way that players attack pitches is dynamic to where the pitch is thrown. Balls that are thrown down and in require players to get more vertical with the bat. While those that are higher in the zone require a flatter approach.

Controlling the throwing lane when baserunners are advancing is a constant. Best teams don’t simply concede the out—they force defenders to make the toughest possible play. They pressure the defense, disrupt rhythm, and turn routine throws into high-stakes decisions.
