They should figure out a way to hang the old jumbotron for those 4 games.

I am 44 and I don't know exactly when I started reading your Strib stories but it was damn near the beginning. Basically half my life. I'll be with you the next half if you're still here too.

Putting on my GM hat, who would I protect for MN?

Heise for sure.

Jaques is another lock.

Coyne-Scofield is probably my 3rd, but with Rooney possibly on the way out, you need to solidify the goal and so do you go Hensley?

I don't get it. Was the entire metro void of 1500-2500 cap venues available last night? Did the promoter owe someone at Mystic a favor? Maybe the only way they could get them to come this far north was to offer a spa day and golf outing? Is one of the dudes in Bullet secretly a poker stud?

All the bands mentioned it. I felt it as a fan. I am sure everyone else did. The energy of a metal show just wasn't there. Sure people were singing a long, headbanging, and jumping a little bit, but all that doens't add up to a metal show.

The elephant in the room that I have failed to mention to this point is the venue. Mystic Lake Resort and Casino's indoor Showroom. A 2100 seat theater. All seats. Yes, even the floor. Which I am sure is great and all for most events held there, but for a metal show, was a vibe killer.

Trivium came out with a big stage set that was very Iron Maiden inspired. Using the drum solo for a mid-set surprise reveal of Monty the Monster was clever. I guess that's the name of the character from Ascendency's cover art.

Bullet For My Valetine ripped through the Poison for the most part, but it was nice to hear Tuck reminisce about how far they've come and how much their lives have changed because of that album.

They did miss the chance to have Jake from ABR or Matt from Trivium join them for a song.

August Burns Red played a short set, but hit their new single and a bunch of old favorites.

They did seem to miss out on the theme of the night which was to celebrate the albums that came out 20 years ago. I figured they would play Barbarian or Your Little Suburbia off Thrill Seeker.

All the bands sounded great and played tight. As they should after being together multiple decades with heavy touring schedules.

I was in a rush when I bought my ticket and wound up in the 2nd to last row instead of the 2nd row. Usually in Ticketmaster, the stage at the top of the seat picker, but it was at the bottom this time. Oh well, at least I was center stage.
