I never had health insurance before employers were forced to offer it. Then they used wage theft to pay for it. As a kid we never went to the doctor unless we were going to bleed out. We didn’t have enough food so we were always hungry. This is in the sixties. They stuffed us into city’s.

I had no snap benefits growing up, there was no health insurance benefits or anything else. No food banks. I’m from a right to work state where I worked for two dollars an hour, no health insurance, nothing. It was economic slavery. And I am white, educated and able. It was much worse for Mexicans
