@itsthehippocket.bsky.social is a great podcast. Creative folk talking movies with thematic connections. Hosted by Drew McWeenwy and Aundria Parker.

Interesting film choices. Wonderful discussion. Knowledgeable guests.

1st watch of Mickey and Nicky after listening to the episode with Phil Nobile

The Incredible Melting Man has just endorsed Andrew Cuomo.

Love James Cagney. First watch for Howard Hawks’ The Crowd Roars from ‘32.

At its best during the race scenes with the human drama stuff falling flat.

Haven’t decided exactly what tonight’s Halloween lineup will be but this is a pretty solid #LastFourWatched @letterboxd.social

Revisiting Innocent Blood. Been awhile. Had forgotten what an absolutely stacked cast this movie has.

Rewatch of Horror of Dracula and always love the titles being the exact right shade of red.

So our son is a freshman in college which is an hour and a half away. Headed up the mountain to check out him and his new friends play their first gig as a band. They go on at nine. Then it’s hugs, a “Hell yeah!” and back home.

Watching Pumpkinhead remembering the time Stan Winston mentored one of my students by phone and email for her Senior Project on makeup fx. I teach in NC.

She created fantastic zombie makeup used in a haunted house attraction.

So yeah, props to one of the masters.

First watch for M3GAN2.0. Makes rhe shift from sci-fi horror original to sci-fi action. Thematically uneven but I needed to relax and be entertained and it fit the bill.

Now on to something a little more highbrow and artsy with the existential musings of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.

With my daughter eight years ago during Spirit Week. She was a freshman at the high school where I taught. Now getting her Masters in Occupational Therapy.

Chilly morning started off with coffee and finishing Black Hammer vol 1. An excellent first time read.

Now on @tcmtv.bsky.social, Tarzan the Fearless with Buster Crabbe. A 12 part serial edited for a feature release. Tarzan flicks are a niche pleasure so cinematic quality is secondary.

Rewatch of Paul Schrader’s Cat People from ‘82. Been forever since I’ve seen it. Let’s see how it hits a few decades later.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen Something Wicked This Way Comes. Maybe rented it once on vhs back in the 80s.

Dunno. Either way, looking forward to this one. A nice October surprise.

Waiting on #TheLastDriveIn to start up with some VHS Halloween but did get in a Bring Her Back first watch. Y’all have a good one.

Rewatch for Demons. 80s good time Italian horror.

Lamberto Bava has a guy snort coke out of a Coke can. Which, for ‘86, seems like a gag tailor made for an American filmmaker.

Your Monster is so much fun. Hope to see more from director Caroline Lindy soon.

Re-Animator rewatch.

Suddenly seeing the credits design looking like Law and Order: Whichever.

First watch of the night is a first watch for Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Enjoyed Overdal’s Troll Hunter and Last Autopsy of Jane Doe. Scary Stories was okay but felt like it left some cards on the table.

Let’s get the night started. Hoping you have a good one.
