I’m not against the whole “get off twitter” thing, but I’m not sure it’s true that the offences don’t require intent. e.g. if someone emailed you something awful you wouldn’t have committed a crime just because you saw it.

Well you kinda missed the point there. Or are being supportive without sounding it ;-)

Little known trivia: Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes - and passing them used lots of skills.

In the original 1982 book (set in, er, 2025), the protagonist enters the Running Man show because his daughter is ill and he can't afford medicine for her. So, same difference really.

Love that you have your own Domain-Specific Language for generating nonsense bullshit.

Pfft it's not authentic, the redaction is actually done correctly.

I too am looking forward to the disassembly of ROBOT ROCK TREE.

(Exile is the necessary one though!)

They're right that I, for example, will vote whichever way is most likely to keep Farage out. It's a big assumption however that I will think that voting Labour (in Starmer's own constituency) will be most likely to keep Farage out in 2029.

Little known fact: there's a secret government Time Travel Agency headquartered in that building. www.imdb.com/title/tt1419...

I recently upgraded to a higher-resolution (as in pixels-per-cm rather than pixels-in-total) HDR monitor and it's very noticeably better. And making websites these days you need to at least think about if you want to provide high-resolution images as well as standard-res ones (or just use SVG).

This whole thread exists because @barleyman5.bsky.social was disputing it’s a country.

I was in the audience. They did not "give him things". He was completely uncontrollable. He threw his cards on the floor and did whatever he felt like.

You're not wrong: 200 leaders from over 40 different religions in "Towards a Global Ethic" at the Parliament of the World's Religions in 1993 declared that the Ethic of Reciprocity, a.k.a. the Golden Rule, i.e. "We must treat others as we wish others to treat us" is a global moral axiom.

I still want back the holiday that was stolen from me when I was a child, when I got chicken pox on the first day of the school holiday and recovered on the last day of the holiday.

Rebrand it as 'dal' instead, problem solved.

I was talking about Windows; I would be the opposite of surprised if Macs were much better at it.

If you've found that that works for you at all, let alone reliably, you should probably go and buy a bunch of lottery tickets because your luck is spectacular.

I’ve been programming for 40 years and I doubt I could get a Windows PC to share files successfully, reliably, and safely in under an hour, never mind then setting up other Windows and non-Windows devices to talk to the first one. Normal people have no chance.

Ohh Blender Carlisle, it's not about the lyrics at all. Ho ho.
December 21, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Sang what? "Ooh baby do you know what that's worth? / A six pound blender from Carlisle, England"? "They say in Carlisle, blenders come first? / We'll make Carlisle a place on earth"?

It's useful for the people who can't do that, which is almost everyone in the world except you.
