@aliciamenendez.bsky.social Love your show. But I heard you say air traffic controllers were "calling out sick." I think the preferred phrasing is "calling in sick." Here "in" refers to the direction of the call -calling in to the boss, not the disposition of your body. See Google Ngram:

Let's make Sinclair keep walking back. Cut the cord, get a streaming service without local TV. If you're on cable, you're paying roughly $300/yr to local station owners like Sinclair, which gets 55% of its income from Distribution Fees, the Broadcast TV Fee on cable bills.

Consumers have a path to accelerate Sinclair and Nexstar's demise.

Each cable customer has the ability to DEFUND SINCLAIR to the tune of roughly $300 per year!

Sling doesn't carry locals in most markets. To get Kimmel back on Nexstar & Sinclair, you need to play hardball. Defund Sinclair & Nexstar. Their main income source is Distribution Fees, the Broadcast TV Fee on cable bills. Dump cable, get Sling.
September 26, 2025 at 1:55 AM
In most markets, Sling doesn't carry locals, so no fees go to those local station owners. By cutting the cord and going to Sling, you can deprive Sinclair & Nexstar of roughly $300/yr per subscriber.
September 26, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Best is to defund Nexstar & Sinclair to get them to see the light and reinstate Kimmel. Consumers can dump cable and cost these station owners roughly $300 per year per subscriber! Distribution Fees, the Broadcast TV Fee on cable bills is the principal source of income to these companies.
September 26, 2025 at 1:45 AM
The majority of income for Nexstar & Sinclair is Distribution Fees, the Broadcast TV Fee on cable bills. If consumers cut the cord and get Sling or Philo instead, roughly $300 per subscriber will no longer be paid to these local station owners Nexstar & Sinclair.
September 26, 2025 at 1:23 AM
Disney may need to play hardball to get Kimmel back on Nexstar & Sinclair, but consumers can play hardball, too. The main source of income for these station owners is Distribution Fees, the Broadcast TV Fee on cable bills. Dump cable, get Sling or Philo instead. Defund Nexstar & Sinclair!
September 26, 2025 at 1:18 AM
Most of their income is from Distribution Fees, the Broadcast TV Fees on you cable bill.

Here's the receipts on Sinclair and Nexstar. Defund their Distribution revenue!
September 23, 2025 at 11:59 PM
Here's the receipts on Sinclair and Nexstar. It'd the Broadcast TV fees on you cable bill, not advertising, that's their main income source. Cancel cable!

DEFUND Sinclair and Nexstar directly. Most of their income is from those Broadcast TV Fees on monthly cable bills. Get Sling or Philo instead of cable. Just ONE cord cutter can defund them by $300 per year.
September 23, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Why not defund Sinclair and Nexstar directly? Got cable? You can deprive them of around $300 a year all by yourself. 60% of Nexstar's & 55% of Sinclair's income is those nasty Broadcast TV Fees on your monthly cable bill. Drop cable and get Sling or Philo instead. Save money, save democracy!
September 23, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Disney was reacting to Sinclair and Nexstar, who still refuse to carry Kimmel. It's important to defund these local station owners. That Broadcast TV Fee on your cable bill? That goes to Sinclair & Nexstar. It's their main source of income. Cancel cable, save democracy. Get Sling or Philo instead.
September 23, 2025 at 5:46 PM
The MAJORITY, 55% of Sinclair's revenue is from Distribution Fees. That's the Broadcast TV Fee appearing on your cable bill, the $10 to $25 per month you're paying Sinclair or Nexstar. Cancel cable, and get Sling or Philo instead. Save money, save democracy, too.
