🧬 I know I should save this model for the official #RNAday in August, but this #DNAday, did you know that the i-motif is two interdigitated duplexes?? This thing is wild and beautiful. 3D printable model of the RNA i-motif (PDB 1I9K) shown below.

In honor of #DNAday, here is a 3D printable model of a g-quadruplex (PDB 139B) separated into a few layers, showing the non-canonical binding that makes the g-quadruplex possible.

In an obsessive bit of bookkeeping over break, I tallied my performance over the first 200+ #Celtix puzzles (plot attached). The slight downward slope is always encouraging.

10 walls: 34, 153, 171, 182, 185
9 walls: 12, 45, 56, 62, 131, 161, 198, 208
8 walls: 70, 201, 213
7 walls: 7 (today!)

I'm not sure what makes me more frustrated: (1) the stark state-to-state variation in structural sexism, (2) the association between structural sexism and late life memory loss in women or (3) the terrible line spec choices in Figure 1 with this bombshell data. www.cuimc.columbia.edu/news/sexism-...

Message from my dog: stay cool and do NOT create a giant todo list for the holiday break.

Whoa, that's not DNA! Thanks to Dave Doty for updating scadnano.org/dev/ to allow for modified helicity in the dev fork of scadnano. Now we can design peptide nucleic acid nanostructures in the browser!

Based on the complexity of the DNA nanostructure models I'm weaving together, you can always tell when I have a big deadline looming.

As we work to build ever-smaller and more uniform micro- and nanorobots, milliscale models help us understand locomotion determinants!

Buoyant magnetic milliswimmers reveal design rules for optimizing microswimmer performance - now published in Nanoscale pubs.rsc.org/en/content/a...
