According to @stathead @baseball-reference.com that's the first time a World Series game has ended on an outfield fly ball double play. Game 5 in 1972 ended on a 4-2 DP on a foul ball that Joe Morgan caught and threw the runner out at the plate.

According to a @bbref.bsky.social @stathead.com search the 9-3 ground out was the first the @redsox.com have converted since 1941 and first in @mlb.com since 2023 (Corey Seager thrown out by current Red Sox Nate Eaton).

#redsox have the pitching lined up as well as can be hoped. In theory final six games are; Giolito-Crochet-Bello-Early-TBD-Giolto. Four games from the top three is nice and it would be interesting to see if the final day matters if Crochet is an option out of the bullpen.

We all laughed when Breslow said the Sox might win more without Devers than they did with him. A win today clinches a virtual tie and two more wins clinches that Breslow was right.

Guess Rafael Devers is willing to play first base. Gotta say, I'd respect him a lot more (not that I think he gives a shit what I think) if he'd stuck to his guns. By being willing to play first in San Fran he just looks like a petulant child who wanted out.

Landon Donovan (left team at start of 2014 qualifying) and Alexi Lalas (caused all manner of problems when not playing at 1998 WC) calling out current #usmnt is a bit rich. Team played poorly no doubt there. Didn’t think it was desire, it was a poor setup poorly executed.

Someone tell Dave O'Brien that just because Tucker touched the ball before it bounces into the stands doesn't mean it's not a ground rule double. Hell, look at the play in game four of the 2021 ALDS against Tampa and the Hunter Renfroe play.

Pablo Reyes hit a walk off grand slam for the Red Sox last night. There is a reasonable chance he will get DFAd today to make room for Trevor Story. Wonder how many people have a walk off grand slammer for their final PA for a team.
