You can do what you want but fwiw I think they're super solid and play to the strengths of the ds really well. They don't hold a candle to link between worlds, but worth playing at least a dungeon or two of each

It's not even that much revenue for Nintendo/game freak/Pokemon company, let alone profit.
A fair amount of those were physical copies that retailers got a cut of, people buy eShop credit at a slight discount, etc.
They're making bank for sure, but it's not as simple as just "MSRP x copies = profit"
