Erg interessant artikel van Jelle v Lottum & Jan Kok over hoe migranten zich in de 18e eeuw voor de opkomst vd natiestaat met de plek waar ze wonen identificeerden. Wat blijkt, hoe gelijker ze worden behandeld hoe meer loyaliteit met de nieuwe woonst. Net als nu.

In hun ijver de 'asielstroom' te willen beperken, vergeten veel politici dat: 1) de aantallen voortdurend op en neer gaan en de laatste 40 jaar geen opgaande trend laten zien; 2) de aantallen primair worden bepaald door wat er in conflictgebieden gebeurt (hier met Syriërs als voorbeeld).

Het viel me vanavond op bij het debat en bij de analyse van Pauw en De Wit: de hele campagne van de PVV is gebaseerd op negativisme. Alles ligt aan de buitenlanders, en verder niets. Geen enkel idee of plan voor de toekomst waar mensen een beetje hoop uit kunnen halen. Alleen maar zuur gezeik.
