A question for writers. When you take a break how long does it last ? And as a follow-up do you think the longer the break the harder it is to knuckle down ? Asking for a friend 👀

Here is a pinch of positivity. I’ve just read the story and I think it is just lovely. Such a gentle nice story a tribute to the belief that people are in general nice and strive for connection

47 trips around the sun. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that life comes down to family and the capacity to be kind. My birthday wish? That we all try a little harder to be kinder. Love to all.❤️❤️

Delighted that my first ever short play, Views from a Couch, was one of 15 shortlisted by Cork Arts Theatre for their Ten Minute Play event—out of over 100 submissions. So grateful to have made it that far. Might keep this writing malarkey up.❤️

Working on a new project: a live short story walking tour of Cork City. Fictional tales performed at real locations—North Main St, Grand Parade, Carey’s Lane, the Bus Station and more. One hour. Ten stops. Cork stories, Cork soul. #Cork #ShortStories #LiveLit

Public service announcement. After a few episodes I can say that When Life gives you Tangerines is one of the most beautiful shows I’ve seen in years

This is my favourite took of all time. On mu last count I have gifted it to friends over 40 times. I’m overjoyed for Rónán who is one of the nicest kindest people you will ever meet. I’m proud to know him.

“Four episodes into this outstanding mini-series exploring the future impacts of climate change. Part Black Mirror, part sobering reality—a thought-provoking and chilling glimpse at a possible future. Essential viewing.”

Just finished Emilia Perez. Strong start with great performances and music, but it drags in the second half and asks for an extreme suspension of disbelief. Mixed feelings overall.

My favourite film of all time. 50 years old. Wow.
On the occasion of it's 50th anniversary, I'll be remembering Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece Barry Lyndon on RTE Radio 1's Arena this evening after 7. Do tune in!

Having a fairly good creative start to the year. Have finished two short story collections that I have been working on for years and have returned to my children’s novel which is also making good progress. Friends told me the creative spark would come back. I didn’t believe it but they were right! ❤️

Very intense French Canadian Psychological thriller / realistic horror. Unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Not sure I want it recommended it to people but it absolutely made me think and also made me feel very uncomfortable.

A really clever , well written and performed thriller. A brilliant take on cat and mouse. If you like I Saw the Devil you will like this. Shot fully on 35mm film. Top marks.

I did not expect to be so utterly transfixed by this movie. Such a great film. Fiennes is utterly compelling.

I had @jpquinn78.bsky.social on for a Takeover show on Monday.
We chatted about @ucclibrary.bsky.social the role of libraries, his work as Head of UCC Visitor Services, @ucc.bsky.social & what it’s like seeing his books on library shelves.
And of course we talked his music picks

I rewatched Blink Twice tonight. I loved it the first time, but on a second viewing—knowing exactly what was happening—I hated it. The ending felt completely different this time. It’s rare for me to go 180 on a movie like this, and not in the good way.

I rarely wear t shirts any more only at home but it so cold at the moment that I am wearing them under my suits. This is tomorrow’s hidden gem. 25 years old and fits great.

Watching Prison Break for the first time and one of my main takeaways from it is how underrated William Fitchner is as an actor.
