You learn something new every day, yesterday morning playing a league tennis match .. the Nelson’s pillar rubble was used as landfill when St. Anne’s tennis club was laid down in Raheny in 1966. There is a little bit of granite on view still, left of steps. Fascinating!

On the day that’s in it, reports of “competitive” elections in the rotten borough of Harristown in 1715 and 1727 need some context, all four candidates in both elections were in fact Eustace family in-laws. The borough was controlled respectively by the Eustace, Fitzgerald and LaTouche families.
