It is well-established that unguided digital interventions are effective in reducing symptoms of depression. But what about the effect on quality of life?

The Borderline Personality Disorder Checklist (BPD-CL) can be used for self-assessment in various languages because it is a reliable and valid measure of symptoms of BPD in its Dutch, English, German, Greek, Italian and Spanish version.

Quite possibly one of the best presentations on how to conduct research. It is by Peter WG Tennant from the University of Leeds, UK and focusses on modern causal inference methods.

How does a digital psychological intervention for social anxiety disorder work?

A recent study suggest that the most effective intervention components, psychoeducation and exposure, exert their effect through reductions in safety behaviours, avoidance and negative social cognitions.

Excited to be co-hosting a workshop with the legendary Patti Robinson at the ACBS WC 2025 in New Orleans. We will show you how to use predictive coding theory (PCT) to develop powerful ACT interventions using a process-based perspective.

How you view yourself (a.k.a. self-functioning) might play a central role in your mental health. It is not only strongly associated with rumination about one’s weaknesses and reduced ability to pursue meaningful activities but also with symptoms of depression and anxiety.

CBASP is more effective than Supportive Psychotherapy (SP). But how much more effective depends on the study site: 12,5% of the variance in this differential treatment effect can be explained by the study site, a recent analysis found.

Psychological internet interventions are effective in people suffering from depressive symptoms who do not meet criteria for depression yet. Particularly for those with at least moderate symptom severity @mathiasharrer.bsky.social @toshi-frkw.bsky.social

Clinically, this suggests that we should not only look at the clinical outcome but also at the negative effects when determining the success of a psychotherapy.

No pain, no gain? Nope. Negative effects can even adversely impact the outcome of psychotherapy. But that might not be equally true for all psychotherapies.

In an internet-based treatment of social anxiety disorder, psychoeducation and exposure are more effective than cognitive restructuring or attention training. All of these components are more effective than a waitlist control condition.
