"I am limiting the scope of the discussion so that I can justify my over emotional pre-existing world view, even if those distinctions are illogical and arbitrary"

Neat

Fair enough!

Seems like a pretty arbitrary cut off to me. Maybe the real lesson here is that we should be extending more grace and patience to players who are as young as Rob and being ok with the fact that they need to develop on the bench and not in games

I can see an argument on the step back. But once he establishes the pivot after the step back, the step through is textbook.

First, that is part of development. It's silly to say otherwise. Second, he did become more skilled during his time here. So you're wrong both ways. He also developed his mental skills here. So, three different types of development.

Hope that helps.

This is what I'm responding to. You said it. You said multiple things, I picked the one that is absurdly wrong to respond to, on account of it being so absurd.

*skill development

He wasn't good somewhere else. He came here and started playing better. He continued to improve during his time here. He went from being unplayable on a bad team to signing a nice free agent contract.

It's not just about still development. Finding a role. Creating buy in. Instilling belief.

Saying Finch doesn't get credit for NAW is absurd. There's no way to defend something like that
December 9, 2025 at 4:59 PM
"if you don't give him credit for anything positive but give him all the blame for everything bad, he ends up looking pretty bad!"

Come on. This isn't serious.
December 9, 2025 at 4:59 PM
It's not a travel though. Every part of that was clean.
December 9, 2025 at 1:44 PM
Yeah the step through is clean and legal at every level of basketball. Always has been. Maybe people have an issue with the step back? I think people just assume anything that looks unusual is a travel but I think this is actually clean and a great example of how good NBA foot work is
December 9, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Step through is not a travel. You're allowed to pick up your pivot foot as long as you don't put it down. This has been true at every level of basketball for 100 years
December 9, 2025 at 1:36 PM
While there are definitely downsides to this strategy beyond the aesthetic, there's a good reason why pretty much every team does this.
December 7, 2025 at 4:20 PM
It looks ugly so I get it, but it's the same reason why football teams run out the clock before attempting a game winning field goal. Iso plays lower the chance of a turnover and ensures the other team doesn't get a possession after a miss. It's easier to control which player gets the shot too
December 7, 2025 at 4:20 PM
Over who?
December 7, 2025 at 3:37 PM
It's very easy to move the ball in those offensive rebound situations when the defense is already completely blended. It's totally different from going against a set half court D

Stop watching sports, weirdo
December 3, 2025 at 3:20 AM
He took two steps after he picked up his dribble. You people who complain about things you don't understand are so weird

They're not

Don't be so weird

What part of "they were number 2 entering the game" is hard to understand? And since when is giving up 10 points to the Packers considered "lighting up"? It's ok to say "I was wrong", it's actually a sign of maturity
November 30, 2025 at 5:37 PM
This wasn't a trick play that you could use any week. These types of plays are almost always opponent specific based on what the opponents coverage looks like.
