I paint miniatures to tabletop quality level and like to play games with them. If it looks good from 3 feet away, it’s good enough for me. I also sometimes play MTG.
I think hollow knight is only like 15 dollars isn’t it? Not too bad of an up front cost if he doesn’t like it too much. I haven’t played cuphead, but I can say that hollow knight’s difficulty curve is pretty gradual and you get to do a lot of exploring before it gets particularly hard at times.

Weirdly, for limited RCQs using Spider-Man as the set, the top 8 draft is traditional and not pick two despite it not being designed for traditional draft. When it comes to limited, this whole thing feels like an administrative nightmare.

I guess taking a break from standard for 2 months is better than taking a break from standard for 2.5 months. Either way, I appreciate the article and your straightforwardness. Much better than silence.

I don’t have skin in the game for either FF or Spiderman. From the outside looking in though, it does feel like FF was a much higher quality set with a lot less administrative mess than Spiderman. E.g. omenpaths online treatment and traditional draft not being supported.

No. I’m particularly annoyed about the omenpaths situation. I’m hoping (probably in vain) that the set will largely be irrelevant in standard so I don’t have to memorize 2 versions of a bunch of the same card for arena and in paper.

I remember watching the cartoon Doug as a kid and there is an episode where they add a third day to the weekend called Funday and I remember being so floored that no one had thought to implement that in real life yet.

That number gets particularly insane when you add the context that it was the known deck to beat and everyone was packing sideboard cards in their maindeck to try and beat it.

I completely forgot that there was a Jurassic Park colab until this past weekend when I opened a random Ixalan pack as part of a draft prize and Chris Pratt was on one of my opened cards.

I think we might need to consider the strong possibility of a ban here. Screaming Nemesis and Hired Claw seem like they are a real problem to the format.

Call me crazy but I really think it’s possible that a deck playing Vivi Ornitier could take the whole thing. People have been sleeping on that card and I think it has real potential to surprise people and shake up the meta game.

Speaking of strange colored Baja blasts, did you know if you get a half regular Baja blast half pink lemonade, it inexplicably turns the liquid clear? It’s strange witchcraft that I haven’t been able to figure out, because blue-green plus pink shouldn’t equal clear.

I had a friend gift me a spare sprue of this set and I love it. Used a couple of the figs for my Stargrave crew and for some Five Parsecs from Home. I might need to get the full box soon. I feel like Wargames Atlantic doesn’t miss with their kits.

I think the meta for this particular tournament is pretty inbred. I’ve been playing a ton of standard on both the ladder and in events and my experience, while anecdotal, is not even close to what is represented here.

This whole thread accurately and distinctly describes how I’ve been feeling these past few months and didn’t know how to express. I hope the people who are really into Spider-Man find joy in this new set, but I feel like magic is leaving me behind.
