Would actually be interesting to see if you can find regional etc differences in American nature writing- I would say my own nature writing is much more like that of the British, and I wonder how much of that is due to my being from the American South or is just personal idiosyncrasy

Virgil was friends with black musicians up in the Big South Fork area where he lived most of his life, and the influence is definitely there, nice reminder of the (now mostly forgotten) history of African-Americans on the Cumberland Plateau
