Generations of children were lost in systems that did not understand them and held only the most narrow definitions of success and participation. There is more work to be done for meaningful inclusion. That becomes so much harder when we are being dragged backwards.

RFK Jr.'s comments on autism are offensive and wrong. Many, many kids with ASD HAVE JOBS; HAVE FRIENDS; FIND SUCCESS IN SCHOOL; AND LEARN FROM GREAT TEACHERS, STRONG PROGRAMS, AND REMARKABLE CAREGIVERS who use the diagnostic process to learn about, implement, and advocate for effective supports.

A bill that perpetuates hatred and increases the isolation of a very small group of kids already at risk for depression and suicide AND allows adults to check children's genitals is perhaps the clearest representation of something profoundly sinister and broken.
