To anyone else out there who fate has landed you alone on a big holiday, there’s no shame in it. Took myself out for a solo dinner, had the loveliest time chatting with the lovely waitstaff, and I’ll go spend an evening in peace. It is hard being alone sometimes, but I believe in us.

Americandesign.gov is enough of a slap in the face for one morning. Then I looked at ndstudio.gov on a desktop. We are in the dumbest timeline. They threw away teams of the most talented and dedicated designers and replaced us with this shit.

After many hours this weekend thinking about how to make it once it’s my turn to receive my own late night “you’re fired” email, I made sure to make room for some joy. A few hours reworking some paintings was incredibly therapeutic.

I will never stop making art.

How did I find out? Drank one of these and had the sickest night of my life.

I’ve been trying for years to get back to painting, my big audacious dream. I nervously took a figure painting class at Palette and Chisel, terrified that I’d be terrible at it.
I’m so proud of myself for pushing through that fear. Pursuing art is the best damn self care.
