Chinese #feminist social media influencer, Wang Huiling, has been blocked across all social media platforms in the country. Born in a small village and now residing in Britain, Wang is known for her popularity among financially underprivileged women in #China.

Some fan creations inspired by the film are also very creative — such as the illustration below, which imagines a young girl’s view of her mother’s daily chores.

I watched the latest Chinese film Her Story (好东西) for the second time today. It is a rare production entirely directed and scripted by women, which is significant given the longstanding male dominance in China’s film industry.

One of the most famous adaptations is My Fair Princess (還珠格格), which aired on TV every summer holiday in early 2000s China. It is also one of the first dramas that Fan Bingbing (left) starred in.

For context, Chiung Yao is Taiwan’s “Queen of Romance Novels.” Her works have been adapted into over 100 films and TV dramas and remain popular throughout the Sinophone world and Asian countries, including Vietnam and South Korea.
