..all that were left were very scrawny so he would grab a bunch of the trimmed branches from a pile on the ground. Then he would drill holes in the trunk and shove the trimmed branches in to fill it out. We loved our 🌲.

As a child growing up in New York City my father was a letter carrier and worked overtime during Christmas season so we never had a Christmas tree until he came home late on Christmas Eve. Then we all piled into the car and off we went to find our tree. By that time….

Make that 3 countries! Mao’s cultural revolution of 1950 - first they shut down universities and sent the professors into the rice paddies. I visited China on a cultural exchange in 1998 and they were just beginning to rebuild academic departments in the university almost 50 years after Mao.

Medicare was established for retirees- every employee has had Medicare insurance premiums AUTOMATICALLY deducted from their paychecks. Working people paid for it!
