Monhegan. I woke early and heard this haunting wailing sound coming from the ocean. It was mysteriousI I was compelled to investigate. As I followed the sounds, I was lead to this beautiful misty sunrise. Oh, turns out the haunting sounds were mating seals. 9x12, oil on Sourcetek linen panel.

I also love love love old pick up trucks. The trucks on Monhegan Island are some of the best. Lobster traps, however, are not on my list of favorite things to paint, but they need to be in the painting. This is 9 x12, oil on linen.

This portrait painting is 11x14, oil on linen. I had tried many colors before going with the yellow shirt, afraid it would be too distracting. But I think it looks right.

Calling this done now. 11x14. charcoal on Sennelier half tone grey paper. The camera really accentuates every edge which doesn't help with charcoal and textures paper. When forced to work from photos, I prefer the candid shots of kids rather than the forced smiles.

Love to paint flowers nowadays. There's magic that happens when sunlight, direct or diffused, glows through petals and leaves, and then the reflections of the sky on them too. This scene is on Monhegan Island, Maine. I painted this earlier this year. It's oil on linen, 8"x10".

An introduction: I live in Southern California with my talented husband, two lovable teenage children, two cats, and a bearded dragon named Bob. I'm a professional artist that loves to paint portraits and landscapes in a classic realism style. I love all things Tolkien, and I play D&D too much.

Portrait of my child with their incredible wild hair backlit with sunset glow. Two sources of reflected light, blue light from the sky above, and light from behind. A fun challenge! Oil on linen, 12x16. #paintings#artist
