Often wrong, but learning. Annoying socdem wokescold. Sadness and kindness. He/him
Say what you want about the American Constitution (, and how often it's flouted, captured or doesn't include protected categories other than white dudes, or encodes terrible rules about gun ownership).... At least on this point it's vaguely clear

No idea. I have no idea what Australian commitment to separation of church and state is. Like the rest of the Commonwealth I'm sure it's just vibes

To be sure, artists and performing artists aren't aways middleclass, and this is not the worst injustice in the world, but Guy de Maupassant captures something particularly perverse in his book 'Mon Oncle Jules' on this, where appearances and standing often are sought perversely

The kids encouraged to do this and not like... learn math are thereafter kind of locked into a difficult pathway of making whatever nepotistic connection to get to the in-group of money-making arts, or vastly more likely, living their 20's and 30s in hospitality or whatever they can do on the side.

it's bleak and extremely real.

The performing arts have a massive pipeline of middleclass (mostly white) parents pushing their kids into performing-arts to go do because of vicarious, sometimes patriarchal, often vainglorious reasons.

It's straightforwardly a pathway to downward mobility.

Lol, new fear unlocked. I really like traveling the Japanese countryside, so uhh. I guess I should carry mace

I've seen alcohol sales be banned on good Friday in Melbourne too, it's not exclusively a US thing. Though unclear to me if it's enforced as the state level

I actually recruited the tall girl in my class to go model for a dropship fashion label at university for a class and take a bunch of fashion shots. It was more or less exactly this.

She knew it was unpaid and still took the gig.

Why folks wear latex in hot climates.... Eh. That I don't know
November 23, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Getting some out of work actors or aspirations to wear boots is like... A few hundred bucks max, particularly outside the US. Audition work is nearly always unpaid and takes line memorization and folks go do it for years.

Wearing kinky boots and looking hot for the camera is the easiest gig

What seems implausible? Tbh I know a bunch of out of work actors who would plausibly do this
November 23, 2025 at 6:44 PM
I guess ip isn't in the post protocol, so I guess that's a protocol question
November 23, 2025 at 5:51 PM
But the net effect of raising the costs on coordinated disinfo actors seems ... good?

Yeah I get more than a little chuckle when hearing these rich enclaves get a shock. There's something of a small joy to find that being ultrawealthy does not always allow you to check out of your obligations to society

A great read for the nihilistic atheist to stir to a prayer while believing even less.

He's fucking amazing. And also incomprehensible

First time I've heard of an orgy in terms of marginal utility, but fair point

The hacking and gossip might be fun, but I wonder about this: because apart from laughing at the hypocrisy, I don't think there's any reason for libs/lefties to overly care if some rightwinger is into consenting/adult $thing.

Grindr's CEO points at this when he talks about cpac.

There's probably a beigewashed redteam of furries somewhere who can play the corporate game, but use their extreme skill at the online to do this though.

Troy pineapple's whole gig for it seems a decade revolved around his willingness to go rummaging in password dumps and letting people on havibeenpwnd know
November 22, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Red teams are usually attached to boring consultancies. Inasmuch as the infosec community is a bit more spicy then most tech, it's still hard to see the average consultancies thinking of putting that in the scope of works

Dems needing to take an instrumental approach to their tent boundaries rather than a virtue-oriented one seems to be the really tricky remaining problem.

I doubt just relying on sheer charisma and of candidates is enough to smooth over disagreements. As you've mentioned, maybe winning momentum can?
