🔴 EXC from @lucascumiskey.bsky.social: babies and toddlers have been referred to the government’s controversial counter-terrorism scheme Prevent hundreds of times since 2016, new data reveals.

Beyond proud that my @hyphenonline.com colleagues @lucascumiskey.bsky.social, Saman Javed and @anitamureithi.bsky.social have been shortlisted in the #BritishJournalismAwards2025 – days after our northern corr Aisha Rimi won Journalist Media Personality of the Year at the Black Muslim Awards 2025.

I just reverse image searched this to see if I could find the original and of course an AI summary came up before the actual results. But ... does this suggest that AI can understand and translate its own slop back into English??

Surely there is no coming back for the curious Guardian style ruling on capping down political parties (Labour party, Conservative party, etc) when it comes to Your Party. Looks like they did it once then gave up

Also an ?accidental drive-by on the principles underlying the government's planned change to indefinite leave to remain, which would see people forced to spend time volunteering (even though many already work mad hours in public services) in order to be eligible.

3/ As you can see here, these funds' investments in Microsoft dwarf the amounts they have tied up in other companies we investigated. Muslims we spoke to were pretty outraged that the Israeli war machine was benefiting them through what they had thought were sharia-compliant financial products.

Then there's this tweet encouraging people to shoot Keir Starmer, which @chionwurah.bsky.social's science, tech and innovation committee quizzed X over in February. The company's global govt relations chief pledged he'd look into it.

It's the latest part of Hyphen's special series on the state of housing in Britain in 2025. Here's @tajali1.bsky.social on how immigrants become double victims of the housing crisis – trapped in unsafe homes while being scapegoated for Britain's failure to build.

Weeks later, Murphy was photographed sitting next to Enoch Powell at a meeting of the controversial Yorkshire Monday Club, which Murphy chaired. 2/

🔴 In 1989, Anthony Murphy was kicked out of his local Conservative Party for handing out anti-immigration leaflets warning of a “civil war” in Bradford that claimed members of the local Asian community would “pursue their concerns through violent means”. 1/

🔴 EXC on @hyphenonline.com from @lucascumiskey.bsky.social: a Muslim civil servants' group that was suspended and smeared by the deputy PM over allegations of pro-Palestine lobbying was later found to have done nothing wrong. Instead of apologising, the government tried to cover up the result.

Burnley's 2024 election results are here – Birtwistle styled himself as the community candidate though in the end it wasn't enough to beat Ryan. But look at the Tories and Reform not far behind, and recall that Burnley elected the BNP's first councillors in 2001.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE from Aisha Rimi for @hyphenonline.com: failures in the government’s flagship digital visa system have left people unable to access benefits and even sleeping rough, while Home Office staff dealing with the new scheme appear to be “learning on the job”.

Not only is "sustainable aviation fuel" potentially driving deforestation in Asia, as reported here by my former colleague Ben Webster; the airline industry also isn't going to adopt it without a fight.

Great piece from my colleague @weronikas.bsky.social speaking to Muslims fighting America's rollback of abortion rights - and calling out the hypocrisy of how Islam is framed by the Christian right as misogynistic.

Enjoying @bobpetesarah.bsky.social's latest The Night, which is out today! Immodesty compels me to say that once you've heard the album you should buy the book, How We Used Saint Etienne To Live from @repeaterbooks.bsky.social or one of the world's many bookshops.

Devastated to hear about the death of @realnickperry.bsky.social, initially a contact in the Hackney politics world & then a friend. I hadn't realised he was on here and tagging him feels weird but then so does not tagging him. It all feels pretty weird tbh.

He was brilliant and I miss him.
