I'm not saying I agree with it, especially given the current administration.
However... part about "obeying the orders of the President" has been in the Oath of Enlistment for a long time. (I was Army 1996-2016). The Oath for Commissioned Officers doesn't contain that line.

unfortunately.... there is a difference between the Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted military members) and the Oath of Military Officers.
The Oath of Enlistment does include the line "will obey the orders of the President of the United States"... The one for Officers doesn't have that

They never intended for a convicted felon to be elected president. They just thought we'd be smart enough that they wouldn't have had to actually list that as one of the disqualifying items.
