Participants in breakout groups are given collection items to catalog and describe. We had to brainstorm the fields/categories required.

We ditched Excel and went back to basic with pen and paper.

1. Catalogue as accurate as possible
2. Build list based on [criteria]

@archivist_Liz ooooo.... Call for bids to host till 2031 has closed. https://ipres-conference.org/category/call-for-hosts/
Call for Bids to Host iPRES 2027-2031
iPRES (International Conference on Digital Preservation) has evolved into the main international conference on the preservation of digital objects. Having been held annually since 2004 in places all around the world, with iPRES 2025 coming up in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand, and iPRES 2026 in København, Denmark, the iPRES Steering Group (STG) is now inviting bids by prospective conference hosts to run iPRES 2027, 2028 and 2029; with options for 2030 and 2031 also in consideration. We invite potential hosts to submit proposals for any of the upcoming iPRES editions up to 2031. In line with our commitment to cover the digital preservation community as well as possible, we aim to give preference to the following regions for each year, assuming all other qualitative aspects of competing bids are equal: * 2027: preferably the Americas * 2028: preferably Asia, the Pacific, or Australasia (APAC) * 2029: preferably Europe, Middle East or Africa (EMEA) * 2030: no stated preference * 2031: no stated preference However this is simply for guidance and may adapt to ensure the best outcomes for the conference. Potential hosts should indicate whether their bid is limited to a specific year or if they would be willing to host iPRES in any of the years currently open for bids. Bids should follow the guidelines outlined in the Call for Hosts. The deadline for bid submissions is July 1, 2025, at 12:00 PM GMT. Please email your bid to ipres-info_AT_ipres-conference.org _The STG notes that the timeline for the iPRES 2027 conference is relatively tight. To ensure timely consideration of viable options, we encourage prospective hosts interested in 2027 to submit their bids as soon as possible. Early decisions will be based on the same criteria and process as other years._ We welcome informal expressions of interest by December 1, 2024. The iPRES STG is available to assist all potential host proposal submitters with questions and support. If you’re interested in collaborating with the iPRES STG on your proposal, or if you have any questions, please email us at ipres-info_AT_ipres-conference.org. We look forward to receiving your bids and to working with the successful hosts to deliver an outstanding iPRES conference that advances the field of digital preservation. Thank you for your interest and commitment to the iPRES conference series. This Call for Bids is aimed exclusively at organizations in the academic and cultural heritage sectors. Inquiries from tourist organizations or convention bureaus will not be accepted. ## Join a Q&A session You can also join one of the Q&A sessions listed below. These sessions are an excellent opportunity to ask question for anyone interested in hosting an iPRES conference in the years 2027-2031??. The Co-Chairs of the Future Hosts Working Group, a subgroup of the iPRES STG, will be available to answer your questions and provide insights into the hosting process. Q&A Session Dates and Times: * 14 November 2024, 2-3pm UTC (check your local time here) * 31 January 2025, 7-8am UTC (check your local time here) * 31 January 2025, 5-6pm UTC (check your local time here) We encourage all interested parties to attend one of these sessions. To join a session, please fill in this form.

@archivist_Liz I wonder whether they're still accepting submissions for host. Mexico in 2028 excites me. I missed it when IASA went to Mexico a few years ago.

Chris explains the reach of Cloud Act 2018 - US federal applies as long as it's a US company. US law enforcement might be compelled to hand over data stored on their servers. What does it mean for data sovereignty?
