Talking about the two disciples meeting with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, Ralph Davis, says, “This is the way with Christ people quite often. In the darkness, we don’t see how close our comfort is.”

God the Word and the Flesh are One, not by any confusion or obliteration of substances, but by a certain union ineffable, and past understanding.

- Chrysostom

He became Son of man, who was God's own Son, so that He might make the sons of men to be children of God. For the high when it associates with the low touches not at all its own honour, while it raises up the low from its excessive lowness. - Chrysostom

What greater Grace could’ve shown upon us from God, than that having his begotten Son he should make him a son of man, and thus an exchange make the Son of man into the Son of God?

“If we are possessed of the true wisdom, which is from God and is God, we would understand that it was possible for flesh to be taken on by God without his being changed into flesh.”

Last night the sun set on Utqiaġvik, Alaska, for the last time in 2024 as the city enters polar night. The sun won't appear over the horizon again until January 22, 2025. There will be enough light to see for at least a few hours each day thanks to civil twilight.

20 years ago tonight, on Good Friday, 2004, Gina and I had our first date! We've been through a lot since then, some really joyous times and some difficult battles together, but I have never been more grateful I made that 6 hour drive from Norfolk to Columbia to take her out!

Looking at Luke 15:17, 23, and 24:

The prodigal son left a place of abundance and grace, not a place of restriction and recrimination. With foreigners he found no food as a bondservant, but his father's bondservants had more than enough and even feasted and rejoiced with the family on his return.
