These two books have shaped me, my faith, and the way I live my life more than any other. If you wanted to know why I am the way I am, it's Bonhoeffer. If I could only have three books ever again, it'd be these and the Bible.

my absolute least favorite hermeneutic is, "the OT is bad because ancient people weren't enlightened." i'm not saying the OT is an easy pill to swallow, that there are not nuanced readings, or even that we shouldn't sit back in horror when we read some of the conquest narratives.

Just finished the last book of 2023. I highly recommend this one, especially if you're an indigenous person (you too, latin@s) who's looking to follow Jesus in your cultural language.
