It looks like there’s a delay, so it took me a little bit of mucking about to realize that it was already working for me.

Bluesky is the single point of failure I’m worried about. This is a compromise position.

It becomes moot if Bluesky supports ActivityPub or Bluesky’s protocol gains parity on critical elements so they wind up merging.
