People need people. Social media gives you the feeling of being around people, but doesn’t provide the support or hope that actual human contact provides. If a person tries to work for a better future without having individuals in mind for whom they are building that future, it won’t happen.

I have no clue what rosy timelines are still possible, but I know that we can make the present rosier by encouraging the growth of local communities.

Bluesky is a breath of fresh air at the moment for people lacking that sense of community, but social media will never replace irl contact.

I still dislike how my echo chamber caused me to be so out of touch with the reality of this election cycle, and I hate how it has contributed to my misunderstanding my friends on the right.
