I just claimed my credit. When I clicked the link on the email, it tried to open the YouTube TV app. Finally, I was able to get the link to open using a browser I don't use regularly, and after logging back in on that browser, I was able to claim the credit. Took about 20 minutes

They're banking on a not-insignificant percentage of people forgetting, or not knowing how to redeem it, or the email going to spam, etc. It's all a grift.

The numbers can scale up and down - cut all the numbers in half for a $200,000 loan, for instance - but percent paid to principal remains the same, no matter the loan size: less than 4% of total payments over the first twenty years. Might as well just keep renting

40-years run about 1% higher on average. 50-years will be higher still. I'm sticking with 9% APR (emphasis on APR - gotta keep "points" and other fees in mind)

No problem! The world of finance is tricky on purpose - so many people get caught out that way - but glad I could help here :)

Less than 4% of your monthly mortgage payments will go towards principal reduction over the first TWENTY years of a 50-year fixed mortgage at 9% APR. You will effectively just be renting your home from the bank.

Here are the numbers for a $400,000 loan, from calculator dot net.
