I’ve definitely used the “sandpaper on marble” method to knock a few thou off a part.

Felt good to get out & see so many people in opposition to fascism here in pdx. Glad it got spicy at ICE as well.

Thanks to assistance from Graham & Jonnie, I can evaluate the manifold and carburetor position for the race bike. So far so good!

Had a great time yesterday doing a photo shoot of the Mod Ciao with @Hexapoda!

Just enormous transfers for a moped. Sharpie included for reference.

Doing a little documentation before building the engine. #OperationHyperion

Check out this fun NASA-themed smartwatch, I got for my birthday. It has a built in theremin & lunar lander game. 🤓

The engine isn’t built, but I hung it on the race bike to pull measurements for a manifold.

The new approach for the swingarm is built from 1.25” 4130 alloy tube steel. It has its own challenges, but should clear the chain.
February 17, 2025 at 4:26 PM
This like, take 5 of trying to get the chain to clear the swingarm. The ‘chain ditch’ failed. Still rubbing. Time to start over.
February 6, 2025 at 5:59 AM
My swingarm design didn’t count for correct clearance of the chain with a maxed out sprocket configuration. My solution was to cut & weld a “chain ditch”. 🤞
February 5, 2025 at 7:25 AM
Due to the excessive length of the race bike, I’ve had to get creative on keeping everything straight, vertical and aligned.
January 23, 2025 at 3:30 PM
I’m no suspension expert, do the best I can do is copy the dimensions from a Vespa Si subframe over to the race bike. The swingarm here copies the mount and axle positions, with the uninstalled monoshock being mounted slightly forward. Fingers crossed 🤞!
