It's also important to remember that color grading is a style, and styles vary wildly. People tend to pull up a few examples and attempt to paint all movies as looking the same. Plenty of movies shot on film in the 80s/90s look flat and boring.

The biggest thing that some people seem to not understand is how digital cameras handle light and shadows, compared to traditional film.
But yes, I am a photographer and designer, who works at a video production studio, and that guy has no idea what he is talking about.

That's also why it's the weakest of the original Retro Metroids games.
Link to the Past and Super Metroid trusted the players in ways that modern Nintendo seems to refuse to do anymore.

The whole core theme and appeal of Metroid, historically, has been "You are alone and isolated on a foreign world and we are not going to hold your hand or explain *anything* to you. Good luck!"
This really seems to misunderstand that.
