This game has been the total opposite of the game against the Nets. Against the Nets, the Wizards did not respond well to playing badly. Tonight, they've had an excellent response. That doesn't mean they'll win the game, but it is much better.

Bilal Coulibaly sure seems to have mastered driving right-handed dunks. He's had two more tonight.
November 20, 2025 at 3:05 AM
That was a positive third quarter for the Wizards -- a good response to a rotten second quarter. They've cut the Wolves' lead to 94-82 entering the fourth.

Halftime: Timberwolves 71, Wizards 46.
Coulibaly: 10 pts., 2 rebs., 2 assts.
Reid: 23 pts., 3 rebs., 1 asst.
Turnovers: Timberwolves 2, Wizards 12
Points scored off turnovers: Wolves 21, Wizards 0.

The Wizards have played a good first quarter so far. They've shown a heavy emphasis on ball movement, and the five turnovers have stemmed, for the most part, from them trying to make the right play. Those are well-intentioned mistakes. The Wolves converted those turnovers into 11 points.

Alex Sarr will not play tonight in Minneapolis because of left big toe soreness, the Wizards said.

The requests from teammates rain down on Anthony Black daily: Assert yourself.

On Tuesday, he showed why the Magic know he can be so important. Story in @theathletic.com:

The Wizards' plan is their plan, and, as I wrote on Oct. 21, it would be a grave error to abandon their long-term roster-construction strategy. But tanking does create noxious consequences, as last night showed yet again. Are the young players learning how to win?

Can the Wizards keep losing like this without stunting their youngsters’ growth?
Washington, which has lost 12 of its first 13 games, played so badly Sunday that its veterans called a players-only meeting.

The Washington Wizards lost their 11th straight game last night, leading to a players-only meeting. How much longer can the team keep losing like this without stunting its youngsters' development? Are they learning how to win? Story in @theathletic.com:

Bilal Coulibaly, who has missed Washington's last four games because of a calf bruise, is getting closer to a return. Coulibaly has been listed as questionable for the Wizards' home game Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets.

(1/2) Monumental Basketball right now is holding its annual Thankful Meals event for residents of Ward 7 and Ward 8. Wizards players and staff members are participating. Mystics players and staff will be here in a bit. (The Go-Go are out of town for a road game.)

Cam Whitmore's potential is undeniable. So are the areas that he and the Wizards are seeking to improve. In his return to face his former team, the 21-year-old displayed both.

Wizards’ Cam Whitmore shows his potential — and flaws — in Houston return
The Rockets were eager to trade Whitmore. The Wizards were eager to take him. The season ahead may show which team made the right decision.

Final: Rockets 135, Wizards 112
Sarr: 25 pts., 11 rebs., 4 assts.
K. George: 16 pts., 6 rebs., 9 assts.
Durant: 23 pts., 5 rebs., 4 assts.

The Rockets' 79 points in the first half are the most points the Wizards have given up in the first half this season and the second-highest total in any half this season. (The high is 88 in the second half against Charlotte.)

This is Kyshawn George's new world as someone now atop/near the top of opponents' scouting reports: Amen Thompson, one of the NBA's best perimeter defenders, has been assigned as the primary defender on George. It should be regarded as a well-earned compliment for George.

Early pregame shooting routines are well underway here at the Toyota Center, with Alex Sarr and Justin Champagnie on the court now.

The Houston Rockets' City Edition court, aka their "Dunkstronaut Court," has to be one of the NBA's best current court designs. Great center court logo but not distracting for fans. Clean.

It'll be the court for tonight's Wizards-Rockets game at the Toyota Center.

A philosophical question: If I ate a Rice Krispies Treat at the airport lounge this morning, does that mean I violated the pledge that I made to myself in September not to eat a single cookie during the 2025-26 NBA season?

Many NBA teams have held their shootarounds over the years at the high school where the Wizards were this morning. Visiting players and coaches autograph a wall in the gym when asked to do so by school officials. How many of the signatures can you identify? Some are easy to decipher. Others aren't.
