The slur “once developed country” is particularly odd for an American to make. Has he experienced the hell hole that is JFK?!

…errm no it doesn’t. Tel aviv are the common denominator here

But the matter at hand relates to a match between a football club with history of violent fans and offensive chanting and a club that doesn’t. The chants of others are irrelevant

What do you mean the “other side”? Villa fans don’t have any antisemitic chants?

Just back on this and because council tax in the news. Another argument here is that new build council tax is significantly higher than standard because of the old 1990s bandings. The council doesn’t need any compensation at all from the developer - they get it already in higher tax receipts

then you’re agreeing with the main point of the piece that there needs to be accountability for maintenance - in this case the council. A few pence of tax isn’t much. But the problem is you get maintenance issues which are never resolved, as outlined in the article

If you read my post I never implied council tax operated in the way you suggest. My point is that we’re paying the same amount as others but not having our roads covered. Not fair and not the same service
July 24, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Because the residents are paying the council tax for it. Why should new build residents have to pay the same (or more) council tax and not receive the same service from the council for maintenance?

I *think* people are questioning a.) the wisdom of cyclists putting themselves and others in more danger; 2.) the negative societal effects of people ignoring the law.

But sure, just mischaracterise the argument as not understanding the difference between a car and a bike

This final point is very important. It’s a societally corrosive attitude to say “I’m gonna ignore this law cause I don’t think it applies to the way I behave”
January 5, 2025 at 9:07 AM
I’m fairly sure that there are stats showing that there are accidents caused by it. That doesn’t mean that cars don’t cause more via the same behaviour. But just because they do doesn’t mean cyclists doing it isn’t problematic- particularly if every one of them did what you did
January 5, 2025 at 9:05 AM
You don’t think that if all cyclists did as you do that wouldn’t make things dangerous for pedestrians?

I mostly don’t steal from shops but since most of the things I steal are small items it’s really not a big deal
