Finally, as always, a special treat for my Kingfield followers. Kingfield (8-3 and 8-4) voted a narrow plurality for Frey... but mostly due to a close split on the Slate candidates, not due to any love for Frey. The Slate beat Frey nearly two to one in Kingfield.

Lastly, Ward 10. Which ended up not being as competitive as many people seemed to think it would be. Millard wins 10-3 and racks up decent numbers there. Chughtai wins everywhere else, and really shines in 10-1 and 10-6.

Next, Ward 8. Stevenson made big gains since last time. After losing to Jenkins by 38 votes, he beat Bassais by 18 percentage points, and over 2,000 votes. Bassais won two precincts (8-4 and 8-9), and only barely, while Stevenson racked up big wins in 8-2, 8-3, 8-7, and 8-10.

Next, Ward 7. This is more of a "tale of two ward" situation. But Shaffer managed to keep the margin close where she lost, while Cashman got blown out in 7-2, accounting for almost Shaffer's entire margin of victory. Shaffer also performed well in 7-4.

Moving on to select City Council races. First, Ward 5. Fairly even across the board here. Warren's strongest precinct is 5-5, Burnett's is 5-9 (only precinct she won). Biggest raw margin for Warren is 5-6.

Swing precincts (w/in 3 points of ward): 5-3, 5-2, 5-8, 5-6, 5-1

The Public Health and Safety Committee recommended approving a legislative directive relating to codifying penalties for city charter violations. Adopted by a vote of 8-3.

The City Council met today at 9:30 AM. 🧵

TLDR: At the first meeting of the lame duck session, the council adopted a staff direction relating to codifying penalties for violations of the city charter.

Tell the Charter Commission how you feel about that, either in writing, or in-person at their meeting on Dec. 3 at 4 PM. The legislative branch has an important role in confirming department heads, just like in the federal or state government.

The middle column below is the main thing they're considering (they will *maybe* add Public Works, but probably not more without public pressure).

Josh also won 8-9.

Our mission, if we chose to accept it, was to find 38 votes. Instead, we found over 2,000. We flipped two precincts, and improved our margin in every precinct - mostly by double digits.

In 2023, with a hint to the future, Soren said "We, neighbors, progressives, and Ward 8, will continue organizing for our shared values, and I know that a movement rooted in community will be even more powerful in 2025."

And he was right.🧵

Turnout numbers are up through 5 PM.

We are already at the second highest turnout for a Minneapolis municipal election in history, and there's still a few hours left. (1/2)

Nasri Warsame’s previous endorsements include President Donald Trump.

After an endorsement, however, then this rule would kick in.

People do sometimes play fast and loose with this rule, but if you’re actually a candidate running against the endorsement, I don’t see much gray area.

I think that’s not necessarily true (yet). She can’t be involved in convention planning, but I don’t think she has to step down or take a leave unless/until she keeps running after Ilhan wins the endorsement.
