but this definitely made that even clearer. Not everyone can do it overnight but we can all make moves in that direction in whatever speed is possible. Proton is an amazing alternative to Gmail for example.

So was Tim Cook from Apple and Jeff Bezos from Amazon. They all have money to the inauguration and all were standing there in a row (practically the front row in fact) with Musk, Zuck and Pichai. I think there's a number of important security reasons to be done with all these platforms anyhow...

Yeah I'm trying to figure out what to do because personally I would like to be done with Meta entirely... But our Sangha is kinda of intertwined with it now because it's where we organize everything for the local in person meetings. Bluesky doesn't work great for local stuff (yet at least)

With Bluesky though, I kind of don't care what their moderation efforts are because the platform is so unique in its ability to be able to do your own moderation in ways that you can't on almost any other platform. Block lists, choosing what is in your feed, even hosting your own server, etc.

The fact that this can be done is one of the most ingenuous parts about Bluesky

The lists are updated in real time so if you add people to them anyone subscribing will get the changes too. You could make a list to block all the TERF accounts for example!
