Not at all and just encourage you to dig into array of experiences and perspectives of people who’ve been in trenches, especially women and those in communities most at risk of harm since there are more than two choices of violence or silence. That’s not a real binary.

Yeah, and another thing they brought up was that violence can in turn draw more angry/violent young men to your movement who alienate women more concerned with keeping everyone safe. Women leave as people get hurt and the men biased toward violence take over the movement.

Have been in discussion groups with much older leftists who’ve been through political violence in other areas. Their take wasn’t opposition to violence for moral reasons, but that it’s very complicated to express power with it when people don’t know what they’re doing and harm that follows.

This kind of violence will trigger someone on their side to shoot back. If this shooter turns out to be anyone other than a straight white Christian, their side will want blood based on their beliefs and bigotry that everyone with same identity shares the same nature.

I feel this lets people of the era off the hook too much. Even just looking back at the second Tales of the City book written in 1980, there’s dialogue you would think was written currently in getting language exactly right on telling a cis mom how to think about and address a trans daughter.

Thanks for pointing out. Grew up white Protestant and actually read your way first, but have more experience with Black church perspective. Was confused by the white reaction. Your post here is good heads up as I wouldn’t have connected dots on why white Dem was being irrelevant.

This could be a great additional location for CCSF, or an expansion to the courses it offers as enrichment to SF citizens. The transit to it is already there and other cities have done similar with using closed mall spaces for eduction since the building infrastructure transfers pretty well.
