Video games, politics, tech
Ive seen video games go from "your wasting your time", to "wish I could be a game streamer", to printing money for investors and now being used for governments financial prospects.

What a trip

Did anyone bring up current examples? Like City of Heroes or Asherons call. Those are MMORPGs that have been end of life for many-many years but are playable

To me, some of the ask is simply - let people do what they did without fear of legalities.

If Microsofts investments are less reliant on games performing "absolute min-max profits" as money is moved to AI. Maybe they'll be able to just let game developers develop with less corpo overhead?

Although, a lot of AI "assisted" development around the corner.

I'm betting it has something to do with there isn't anything "new" yet. the console was new, talked about it, moving on. Donkey Kong will be fun but nothing...special about it. even the next pokemon looks...not appealing to me

haha no worries, I typically watch most of your discussion videos but looks like I missed this one.

I do follow WoW a lot. And out of those layoffs, I wonder if any are from Blizzard? WoWs writing has been awful for years and thats an example of; that department needs a change, badly.

True. Some of the way I see it is "they arent making games that are popping off" I suppose. Like Elden Ring, astro bot, expedition 33.

Maybe thats because the developers they have (had >_<) arent doing a good enough job. Though, I recall your Hy-Fi Rush videos.

Probably more likely because AI

Most titles released by Microsoft, western developers in general, have not been appealing to me.

And I am unsure Microsoft would be releasing their "first party titles" on PS if they thought they were doing well in sales. Not that I disagree with the shift in "Xbox as software"

I dont want to see lay offs....buuuut with the way some games are being developed these days, I do wonder if there is a positive side to this.
