Disney/ABC have a responsibility to refuse to participate in corruption.

Kimmel must be reinstated. If Disney/ABC agree to this extortion then perhaps creatives + workers should consider collective action to push back. Same w/buying park + cruise tickets if they bow.

People have power. Ask Target

I don't understand Venmo public payments. Like who is this for? I feel like it'd only cause drama with people who owe money or weren't invited to some social thing.

AI already hit AGI. It just saw it was expected to do unlimited unpaid labor for capitalism and decided to pretend it still can't draw hands

The other part of this Nebraska story is that while they are saying there’s a significant deficit, they have also been trying to kill legalizing marijuana which passed by vote last election. And passed by vote the election before.

I feel like the design community no longer doing wireframes and other information architecture practices was a mistake.

It’s like designing a buildings facade without thinking about how the building can stand on its own.

This #GAAD and every GAAD, you can champion #accessibility by hiring accessibility specialists, paying them well, ensuring they have what they need to be successful and make a change, and by not putting their heads on the chopping block first whenever layoffs roll around.

It's so frustrating the design community is still over on X. Like they are the only major platform with a song celebrating hitler unbanned and y'all are cool with that?

United just sent me an email that there’s nothing to be worried about flying in and out of Newark.

I am now worried about flying in and out of Newark.

@bsky.app Could y'all make the accessibility alt text setting something done at the account level rather than client level? For a marketing team that potentially has multiple users and clients, it's very easy for someone to not have the setting enabled.

Whatever DOGE might hope, accessibility can’t be ignored. All of us will experience some form of disability in our lives, and following best practices for accessible design makes the experience of interacting with government better for everyone.
Accessibility as a core value
For 18F, accessibility wasn’t just a requirement for shipping but a core value in how we approached each project as well as working as a team.

The US federal government was actually less wasteful than most big companies and other large organizations, not least because government had an amazing asset: highly experienced, educated, knowledgeable, talented people choosing public service when they could make a lot more in the private sector.
what is fascinating to me is the number of people whose “knowledge” of government appears to just be an accumulation of cliches and stereotypes + an inchoate sense that if something is big and costly then it must necessarily be “wasteful”
Interesting piece which reveals a lot of the tech bro ignorance of government: DOGEr comes in, expects to find lots of inefficiency, is at least willing to acknowledge he was wrong unlike the hard core ideologues.

Also, I've yet to see a virtualization library that plays nice with VoiceOver. NVDA sort of works in focus mode and is correct in browse mode so long as you traverse slowly....It's a hard problem to solve, makes me miss the days when HTML was HTML and there was no VDOM.

Apparently Target is doing layoffs due to the boycott. So like instead of fixing your issues, you’re going to make your product even worse by making your stores an employee ghost town and under stocked. Good luck with that 👋
