Even having worked on aflatoxins for 6+ years, I learned a lot personally, and left energized to make new progress on this really big policy issue. Aflatoxins affect billions of people! And progress IS possible: new innovations can substantially reduce aflatoxins at various steps in the chain

Last week we held a workshop in Senegal on quality upgrading and food safety, with a particular focus on aflatoxins. We brought together economists, plant pathologists, nutrition specialists, policymakers, and private sector partners from 7 countries. #EconSky

I've been wanting to see a paper like this! Interesting new WP from Zavala et al looking at the impacts of quality barriers on trade finds particularly negative impacts of phytosanitary standards for producers in lower-income countries. #econsky
