I like to collect odd edge case production issues. A new addition is filing a FCC compliant to fix an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. All thanks to an ISPs security shield product with some DNS blocking.

Why would anyone buy a smart home product from Google? My Nest thermostat stopped working. Nest Protect had an internal battery and beeped nonstop at midnight because the sensor lasts only 6 years or something.

Just buy a Kiddie wifi smoke detector. It's cheaper and the app is better.

A quick update on a new integration.
If you're a candidate in NYC, you know how time-consuming it can be to manage your contribution data for the matching funds program to your CRM.

We just made it easier.

Ask our support team how to set up the integration so you can get back to focusing on the people you’re trying to represent.

I went the extra step with some unit tests. Now I can find out if the old or new PDFs from the tests are pixel matched between version releases. Four different nuget packages needed to make the PDF, convert it to a PNG, then compare the PNGs to each other.

Nice road trip to Alabama this weekend.
Our team is at Alabama Democrats boot camp this weekend. I'm glad we can sponsor to help candidates get the training to help launch their 2025/26 campaign!

This wall art tells our story: every pin represents a campaign or organization we've worked with since launch. It’s amazing to see how we've been a part of $400mil+ raised and spent in the space! As a startup in Louisville KY, we started local, but local doesn't quite fit anymore.

I'm at the airport, and I open my earbud case. I realized at that moment that the thing the cat was playing with was one of my missing earbuds.

I'm using .NET MAUI to build an Android/iOS app. Android was easy.

iOS
- Memory bug with the striper
- aps-environment bug with MSBuild
- AOT bug
- Fixing AOT bug causes App Store Entitlements issue
- Apple deactivated an unexpired profile for some reason.

16 builds later, it's published.

In some good news, we did help a candidate who won a special election to Congress.

Spent the weekend getting OAuth integrations ready. The first app up is Zapier. They have drastically improved the DX with their app builder. Hopefully I can get more political tech to start using OAuth instead of swapping API keys or worse, waiting for API/webhook approval.

It's that time of the year where we get a W9 request for card network payments. We had to write a help article because of these requests. We don't accept checks, few process via ACH.

Finally set up the production Kafka(RedPanda) cluster with full TLS. Was the documentation helpful, no. Were the error messages helpful, absolutely not. I did submit feedback on the docs. Now I wonder if our tech stack is too complicated or right on the she of complicated.

Small load test for the new Kafka cluster.

NGROK: Rate limit exceeded.

Made it a whole 20 minutes but Kafka didn't crash!

TIL the Mediatek Bluetooth chip on AM5(amd) is buggy. Like Bluetooth disappears buggy. Replaced it with the Intel version and works great. Worlds tiniest connectors included. I may need magnifying glasses next time.

I spent yesterday trying out RedPanda. Besides the docs and WSL docker compose not working, nice proof of concept. Then spent the afternoon setting up cross-account roles in AWS only to find I was in the wrong region 🤦‍♂️. Today, tutorial videos for tomorrows feature launch.

Yesterday started with an amazing client call. Followed by lunch at Chipotle and a hug from my adopted congressman.

Today my flight has been delayed for over 2 hours. Really glad I bought the extra large battery pack.

Small upgrade to the work laptop to 64gb. Visual Studio was draining the memory used lately. Now I can open all the chrome tabs!

Quick Hackathon this weekend with Stripe and plain. I can pull bank and credit card transactions so I can match them up to start reconciliation in the app. Short demo video below.

"door will unlock in 3 seconds" is a lot different than "Evacuate building in case of fire, pull here".
Capitol Police release an account of the fire alarm incident that essentially aligns with Rep. Bowman’s statement that he was—however foolishly—trying to get the Cannon doors open to get to the vote, not trying to disrupt the vote.
