Thinking about the shape of the future.
Without the petrodollar, the U.S. faces:
- Financial instability
- Loss of global influence
- An existential crisis of power

I believe there is a future where we can have both. Climate tech and a strong currency.

The challenge is discovering how.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Climate tech is revolutionary:
- It’s economical.
- It’s growing faster than any other power source.

But it has one major downside. It weakens the petrodollar.

BRICS #1 goal? Replace the U.S. Dollar with the Chinese Renminbi.

This would mark the end of an era.

China would be the new global superpower.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Fast forward to today—this is where things become complicated for the U.S.

The world is aggressively de-dollarizing.

BRICS nations, led by China, have overtaken G7 as the largest geopolitical force.

In 1974 Nixon struck a deal with Saudi Arabia and OPEC to create the petrodollar.

All oil sold internationally had to be traded in U.S. Dollars.

This deal secured our global reserve currency status once again.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
But in 1971, America broke its promise.

Nixon diplomatically announced that the dollar was no longer convertible to gold.

Here's what they didn't tell you: Oil became the new gold.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Why does reserve currency status matter?

This gives a country the power to:
- Fund wars
- Print money
- Accumulate debt
- Impose sanctions
- Control inflation rates
- Stabilize its economy

It is a lever that can move the world.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
The U.S., with 70 years of gold stockpiling, became the natural successor.

With the Bretton Woods system, we held the global reserve currency and became a superpower.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Fast forward to the end of WWII, the global financial system was in chaos.

The British Pound, exhausted by the war effort, could no longer be faithfully exchanged for gold.
January 30, 2025 at 8:01 PM
From 1870-1914, America dominated the second industrial revolution.

We overtook England as the technological and economic leader.

Kevin Kelly's explores this in "The Myth of a Superhuman AI" a must-read for anyone curious about the future of intelligence. kk.org/thetechnium/...
The Myth of a Superhuman AI
I’ve heard that in the future computerized AIs will become so much smarter than us that they will take all our jobs and resources, and humans will go extinct. Is this true? That’s the most common question I get whenever … Continue reading →

2) Here’s what they observe:
- There is no such thing as “general intelligence”; human intelligence is highly specialized. AI will be too.
- Some problems are irreducibly complex. The universe itself has hard limits.

AI is going to change the world, but not in the way we might think.
January 29, 2025 at 7:47 PM
1) Here’s what they observe:
- Progress isn’t infinitely exponential, everything follows an S-curve, slowing over time.
- Each breakthrough is exponentially harder to achieve.

The next stage of AI is self-training. If it can generate its own data, it won’t need us anymore.

2025 is a race to this goal.

I hope America wins 🇺🇸

Why is DeepSeek doing all of this for “free”?

“Whoever controls AI controls the world” —Putin

If DeepSeek surpasses OpenAI, they'll corner the market.

The stakes have never been higher.
January 27, 2025 at 5:06 PM
DeepSeek also made training 20x more efficient with V3:

From $100M to $5M.

Here’s how:
- Self-reinforcement
- Emergent chain of thought
- Multi-headed latent attention
- Mixture of expert topics
- Fine-tuned training data
- Reduced floating point precision
- Optimized parallel computing

DeepSeek-R1 just eliminated that barrier.

It doesn’t need humans. It reinforces itself.

This is the next generation of AI.
