Consistently being in the top 100 uni’s, all of these issues impact @UniUtrecht even more. So as much as they may really believe this is the best, principled choice, it also is a bit cynical, taking themselves off the radar and in order to get fewer international students. 6/6

This leads to overcrowded programs that then have to weed students out. The Dutch gov’t has even suggested enforcing rules that require most instruction be in Dutch (the not so quiet part being that this will discourage international enrollment.) 5/6

The * on accepted* is there because most programs at NL unis have open enrollment, as long as you meet minimum requirements. So for most programs, you aren’t admitted on a competitive basis to a set number of seats. Uni’s can’t control their enrollment size. 4/6

This housing issue is so bad that universities who have accepted* international students (including @UniUtrecht) have started telling them not to come to campus without housing already sorted. 3/6

Like many other places, NL is having a deep housing crisis. Student homelessness is becoming a larger problem, and international students face both structural barriers to finding housing, and discrimination. 2/6
